FUCH'S CORNEAL DYSTROPHY

Fuch's Corneal Dystrophy is an eye disease in which the innermost layer of cells (the endothelium) degenerates. The endothelium is responsible for maintaining clear vision by regulating the amount of fluid in the cornea. The cause is often unknown and can only be diagnosed through a comprehensive eye exam. PTERYGIUM (SURFER'S EYE)

Pterygium is a common eye condition that affects patients who spend a lot of time outdoors, which is why it is also known as Surfer's Eye. Pterygium is a non-cancerous lesion that shows as a growth of pink, fleshy tissue on the white portion of the eye, and is thought to be caused by prolonged exposure to ultraviolet light. Our surgeons will try to remedy the condition through a series of eye drops. If the disease progresses to a point where conservative treatments have failed, we may suggest surgery to remove the lesion.
